So what do you think? I voted for him as did many progressive folks. I like him but do feel he lied about
"bringing the troops back home"
Be honest, this is not an "Obama walks on hallowed ground" post!
How will Europe react? I think Gordon Brown will need to reconsider the early withdraw or the BNP is assured more seats in the EU parliment. I'm not sure Brown has a choice. Opinions?

I am hugely disappointed in Obama. I think he is just trying to somehow appease the Republicans. The Republicans are NEVER going to accept him or make any effort whatsoever at bipartisanship. Honestly I don't know who is "advising" Obama on this but It is some lousy advice. He is making a huge mistake. He should be bringing the troops home not sending more. It is insanity. For every Muslim Extremist we kill over there, there will be 50 more to replace that 1 person. Our aggressive behavior in the middle east is only creating more militants who will want to kill us. They hate us for a reason and it is not because of our "Freedoms", it is because we our sticking our nose in their business, we have been occupying their lands and meddling in their affairs for far too long, that is where the hate comes from. There are other countries who have more freedoms than we do and they are not being threatened by Islamic Fundamentalist. We come home, pull everything we got out of the middle east, quit supporting isreal, leave those people ALONE and eventually they wont have any reason to want to kill us!
Yeah! Our first comment!
I remember clearly around 1999 or so reading a book that everyone should check out called "The Worlds Most dangerous Places" written by soldiers of fortune, K&R people, mercenaries and various high risk travel enthusiasts. One of the expressions in the book was:
"Jihad, coming to a town near you"
The concept of Jihad is invisible and it can't be contained to one country or place. I also think at this point the world is in great pain and when the wars drag on it says to the world by our leaders: "Stay in pain" and "its is ok to kill innocent people" being at war this long when it is clearly going to be a no win situation creates an over lying feeling of mass depression. Had Obama brought the troops home and kept some "advisers" in Iraq and Afghanistan then the whole world , especially the UK and the US, would be on a trajectory towards "up" now it means just sinking further.
